Lynyrd Skynyrd Crash Site Memorial

On October 20, 1977, fate would deprive us of some great Southern Rock that was yet to be made. On that devastating day, Lynyrd Skynyrds plane would not mak it to their destination in Baton Rouge, instead crashing outside of Gillsburg, MS, Approximately 15 miles SouthWest of McComb, Ms.

Lynyrd Skynyrd would most certainly have went on to record many more hits as their short lived time with band leader Ronnie Van Zant brought about many memorable and iconic hits such as ‘Simple Man‘, ‘Sweet Home Alabama‘, ‘Free Bird‘, ‘Gimme Back My Bullets‘, ‘That Smell‘, and ‘Tuesday’s Gone‘.

The Lynyrd Skynyrd Memorial is a peaceful monument in a state filled with musical legends such as Elvis Presley, Muddy Waters, and Robert Johnson.
